A little bit about me...
I’m an east coast based creative director of shopping platforms, product content and interactive experiences with a background in graphic design and website building.
I’ve got 25 years of digital experience at agencies.
During that time I’ve done all kinds of design, art direction, concepting, coaching, presenting. Even a little copywriting. There’s been some memorable work, some awards, a whole bunch of sound and fury, a lot of learning and sure enough some laughs. But too much of the effort in my days of the early internet was out to simply make noise in a messy market and attempt to steal attention. The inspriational assignments have always been about showing people what is real and helping them find what they want. I’m drawn to the immense challenge of making all that really easy for people, while also making it look really good.
It’s a path that has become much more important with the internet decentralizing. The turn we’re taking is away from expediency and towards meaning. Not just related to the marketing, but in all of business. And beyond business. We’re going away from trying to quickly convince someone of something. The far more worthwhile task is revealing something for all that it is, how it was made, then letting people make a decision for themselves.
This is a return to quality. Beginning with the products themselves. Then in the marketing where design and content have a role to play in representing that quality. This is the hard work. Only the easy answers and error correction will be handled by AI. But people will need to know what’s real, what’s good and what to trust. And they’ll know it to be quality produced by real work.
I’m currently working on Hyundai at Innocean USA.
